Smith Shines as Purdue Dominates

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Braden Smith delivered a career night, scoring 34 points and dishing out 12 assists, to lead No. 21 Purdue to an 83-64 victory over Toledo on Sunday. The win marked Purdue’s 24th straight triumph at Mackey Arena and extended its non-conference home winning streak to 32 games — the longest in school history.

Smith, who also grabbed four rebounds and made six three-pointers, became the first Purdue player ever to record at least 30 points and 10 assists in a game. His performance was complemented by Trey Kaufman-Renn’s 23 points on 11-of-14 shooting and Fletcher Loyer’s 17 points.

The Boilermakers (9-4) ended non-conference play with an 8-3 record, with their only losses coming to top-15 opponents. Purdue shot 49.2% from the field and drained 10 of 28 from beyond the arc, while Toledo (6-6) managed just 2 of 14 from three-point range.
