Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Kixmiller, 92

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Kixmiller, 92, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully of natural causes at Aspen Place healthcare facility on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 5:55 am.

She was born in Greensburg on October 25, 1933 to the late Jasper F. “Jack” and Estelle M. “Merle” Bennett and later married the late John B. “Jack” Kixmiller on January 22, 1992 in Greensburg. Also preceding Betty in passing is her first husband, Charles H. Johnston, II; her sister Norma J. Beagle, and her infant great-grandson, Gunner M. Berggren.

Surviving Betty is her son, Jo B. (Christine) Johnston of Elkhart; grandchildren Stephen M. (Kristy) Berggren of Deedsville, Sarah E. (Caleb Mankey) Johnston of Indianapolis and Elisabeth R. (Matthieu) Miller of Elkhart; great grandchildren Teagyn Berggren, Lilliana Stroud, Adrianna Norlock and Phoenix Berggren; and a small host of loving extended family and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, a simple cremation will take place with the assistance of Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home of Greensburg. Burial will follow during a private service at South Park Cemetery.

Betty was a 1951 graduate of Greensburg High School, attended William Woods College in Missouri and was a 1956 graduate of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio. For a time, she sat on the Board of Directors of the Chas. H. Johnston’s Sons Co., Inc. In her later years, she worked as a nursing home surveyor with the Indiana State Health Department.

Throughout her lifetime, Betty was fortunate enough to be a bona-fide world traveler and enjoyed homemaking, cooking, and playing bridge and solitaire.
