(Batesville, IN) – Patients were moved from Margaret Mary Health’s legacy hospital on Mitchell Avenue in Batesville to the new state-of-the art facility on State Road 229 North by Letts Fire and EMS starting at 6 a.m. Saturday.
All patients were safely transported to the new hospital in about 90 minutes.
The operation involved multiple ambulances, EMS personnel, hospital staff, and support personnel working together under a carefully coordinated plan.
“We knew from the beginning that our most important responsibility was making sure every patient was moved safely while maintaining the same level of care they would receive inside the hospital,” said Letts Fire and EMS Chief Matthew Morrow. “Our team prepared extensively for this operation, and this morning that preparation showed. Moving all of the patients safely in approximately 90 minutes was an outstanding accomplishment.”
The hospital credited its nursing and clinical teams with providing seamless patient care throughout the transition, and thanked its EMS partners for safely transporting patients to their new rooms.
Officials also thanked others who played a part in getting the new facility up and running at full strength.
“Our IS team kept critical technology and systems running smoothly; our Environmental Services team ensured spaces were clean and ready for patients; our Maintenance team kept the new facility operating smoothly and responded to needs throughout the move; our Materials Management team ensured departments had the supplies they needed; and our Food Services team kept patients and staff fueled throughout the day. And these are just a few of the many people who worked together behind the scenes to make the move a success,” MMH officials said in a statement. “The excitement and pride could be felt throughout our new hospital. What an incredible day for MMH and the communities we serve.”
