New requirements for COVID-19 restrictions start Sunday

Statewide — Indiana will be moving away from the stage setting. Starting Sunday, November 15 and for at least the next month, there will be requirements based on a county’s status in the color-coded metric map on the state coronavirus website.

Businesses will remain open, but operators and patrons must meet certain requirements when their county is in orange or red status.
Signage at businesses should be posted at all public and employee entrances. They should state face coverings must be worn. Only people wearing face coverings are to be admitted. All customers in restaurants, bars, and nightclubs must be spaced 6 feet apart. Indiana Department of Homeland Security and Alcohol and Tobacco Commission, with local partners, will continue to check businesses for occupancy, social distancing, and face-covering requirements.

Counties in orange are to start limiting social gatherings of any kind, inside or out, to 50 people. Special, seasonal, or commercial events planned for more than 50 people require the approval of a safety plan by the local health department. Attendance to winter indoor k-12 extracurricular activities and co-curricular activities are limited to 25 percent capacity. Capacity in common areas and break rooms should be reduced and users should be socially distant. Community recreational sports leagues and tournaments may continue if attendance is limited to participants, required personnel, and parents/guardians.

Counties in red are to start limiting social gatherings of any kind, inside or out, to 25 people. Special, seasonal, or commercial events planned for more than 25 people require the approval of a safety plan by the local health department. Events are not advised to be held and this includes college and professional sports. Attendance to winter indoor K-12 extracurricular activities and co-curricular activities, including IHSAA sports are limited to participants, required personnel, and parents/guardians. Local officials may consider limiting hours of operation for bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. Community recreational sports leagues and tournaments may continue if attendance is limited to participants, required personnel, and parents/guardians. Senior care activities are suspended. Hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other congregate settings may impose visitation limits. Common areas and break rooms should be closed.
