The Cincinnati Reds held off the Chicago White Sox 9-8 in the rubber match of the series in the Windy City heard yesterday afternoon on WRBI. With the win, the Reds take the series two games to one. Eugenio Suarez hit his 18th home run of the year and drove in four. Sal Stewart and Tyler Stephenson also went deep. Tejay Antone got the win in relief to run his record to 2-0, and Julian Garcia earned his second save. The Reds return to Cincinnati to begin an eight-game homestand with the first of three tonight against the Miami Marlins. Chase Burns (13-2, 2.61 ERA) will make the start for Cincinnati. Reds pitcher Hunter Greene underwent Tommy John surgery to repair a damaged ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow on Wednesday. It’s the second time in his career that he’s undergone the procedure. The surgery will end Greene’s 2026 season and keep him out for most, if not all, of 2027.
The Cincinnati Bengals edged the Detroit Lions 16-14 in NFL preseason action at home last night. Joe Burrow played the first two series and was 5 of 6 passing for 84 yards. Joe Flacco threw the Bengals lone touchdown pass to rookie Jack Hendries. The Bengals will be back at it next Saturday at home against the Chicago Bears…The Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots played to a 13-13 tie in Foxborough. Anthony Richardson started and was 11 of 14 passing for 145 yards and an interception. He ran for a score. Riley Leonard was 10 of 21 for 89 yards and a pick. The Colts are home next Saturday afternoon against the Atlanta Falcons.
Tyrese Haliburton says he is fully healthy and ready to go for the Indiana Pacers. Haliburton has been spending the past year coming back from a torn Achilles he sustained in Game Seven of the 2025 NBA Finals. The Pacers will play a preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Iowa State, which is where Haliburton played college basketball.
