The 14th annual Batesville High School Basketball Alumni  golf outing is set for Friday, July 17 at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club. The four-person scramble begins at Noon with a shotgun start. The entry fee is $100 for an individual golfer or $400 for a team and includes green fees, cart, skins, lunch and two drink tickets. Proceeds benefit the Batesville Basketball Alumni Award, and helps the program cover costs tied to equipment, developmental camps and other needs outside the school’s athletic department budget. Fernando Tatis Jr.’s solo home run to left field in the bottom of the 9th inning lifted the Padres over the Reds 5-4 in the series finale in San Diego heard yesterday on WRBI. Tatis’ walk off long ball off reliever Chase Petty came with two outs in the frame. Petty took the loss to fall to 0-1. Former Red Wandy Peralta got the win. Brady Singer started for the Reds and went 6 innings, allowed 6 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk and struck out 5. All of the Reds’ runs came on homers off the bats of Spencer Steer (No. 10), JJ Bleday (11) and Eugenio Suarez (5). Cincinnati dropped two of three games in the series. The Reds have the day off before starting a six-game homestand with the first of three tomorrow night against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Indiana Fever host the Chicago Sky in WNBA Commissioners Cup play tonight. Indiana is 2-1 in the midseason tournament. Tipoff in downtown Indianapolis is at 7 p.m.

The Indianapolis Colts will likely not have Alec Pierce available for the beginning of training camp. Their top wide receiver will likely miss significant time before the pre-season due to the rehab process on his ankle. The former UC Bearcat had surgery on his ankle after the end of the 2025-26 regular season. Pierce just inked a new four-year, $114 million deal with the Colts.
