Jerrell “Jerry” Frederick McCullough, 89 of Columbus

Jerrell “Jerry” Frederick McCullough, 89, of Columbus, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. He was born on January 20, 1937, in Westport, Indiana, to Stanley H. and May (Ponsler) McCullough. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen Kay Anderson, on September 14, 1958, at the Westport Baptist Church. She preceded him in death in 2021, sharing more than 62 wonderful years of marriage together. He lived in Westport during his early adulthood and was a very active member of the Westport Baptist Church until he entered college. He graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1955 and worked at Cummins Engine Company until entering Franklin College. After graduating from Franklin in 1962 with an AB degree in economics and business, Jerry and Karen moved to Columbus. He then went on to earn an MBA degree from Xavier University and held a CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) from the National Purchasing Managers Association. During his professional career, he worked in various capacities for Federal Mogul Corporation, Cummins Engine Company, International Harvester, Lilly Industrial Coatings, and Arvin Industries. Mr. McCullough was a member of the Berean Bible Church for many years where he served as the AWANA director for youth for 17 years, missionary treasurer, deacon and worked in childcare. When the church changed its name to The Ridge, he served on the board of elders and hospital visitation team. He also assisted with the Hoosier Prison Ministry. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, IU basketball, Colts, Pacers, and many other sports. He dearly loved being involved with his grandchildren in all of their activities. He is survived by his son, David (Christine (Bower)) McCullough of Greensburg, and his cherished grandchildren, Keegan of Florida, and Koltan and Kennedy McCullough of Greensburg. In addition to his wife, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Deborah Edenfield; his brothers, Royce G. (Mary), Richard, Paul (Carolyn) and Stanley Lee McCullough in infancy; and his sister, Ruthann (Charles) Cross. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday, July 25 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Ridge through the funeral home.
