Meals Are Available for Kids in Batesville and Decatur County — Here’s How to Get Them
Hundreds of Indiana locations are serving free breakfasts and lunches to children 18 and under this summer. Local options exist even where schools aren’t in the statewide program.
Nearly 1,000 sites across Indiana are serving free, nutritious meals and snacks to children and teens 18 and under this summer through the 2026 Summer Food Service Program — and local families don’t have to look far to find one.
“For more than 50 years, the Summer Food Service Program has provided children ages 18 and under with access to free, nutritious meals and snacks during the summer months.”

BATESVILLE
Batesville Community Schools are not part of the statewide summer meals program — but kids in need won’t be left out. A volunteer group at Batesville United Methodist Church, 106 S. Park Avenue, is stepping up to fill the gap.
The program is open to children within the Batesville Community School Corporation district and runs through the end of July. A parent or guardian must visit the church to fill out an application. Once approved, families can pick up meals every Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. in the church basement.
