(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) recently received the Patient and Family Experience Award from the Indiana State Office of Rural Health.
The state agency annually recognizes those making a difference in rural healthcare for their outstanding achievements.
DCMH says the award honors staff members who significantly impacted the human experience in healthcare by implementing innovative solutions.
In 2024, the DCMH team introduced an ambient listening software, Suki, into DCMH’s electronic medical record (EMR) system. It’s considering a pioneering move since only two organizations in the U.S. have achieved this integration. This state-of-the-art software enables seamless ambient listening, allowing clinicians to record conversations effortlessly and automatically generate clinical visit notes.
“Suki has helped me not only complete my documentation more quickly, but it has also improved the detail of what is captured in my notes,” said Natasha Struewing, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. “As a critical access hospital, the number of patients who seek care on any given day can vary widely. With Suki, I can see more acute patients and provide the care they need in a timely fashion, which is essential in achieving the best outcomes possible. I feel fortunate to be part of an organization that recognizes and invests in solutions that meaningfully impact both clinician and patient experience.”
By alleviating the burdens of documentation, this technology not only combats clinician burnout but also enhances clinician satisfaction and most importantly, patient outcomes. This integration empowers clinicians to focus more on providing compassionate patient care. Suki’s voice AI features, including dictation capabilities, ensure that documentation becomes a streamlined part of the workflow, benefiting the patient experience.
“Suki has enabled me to find a better work/life balance since I no longer have to spend 12 hours on the weekend completing charts. Credit goes to our Administration for providing us with such a great tool and investing in innovative technologies. It has been a game changer for patient documentation,” said Anjum Fazlani, MD.
Patients can opt out of Suki at any time.
