Mrs. Brenda Louise (Sager) Hockman, age 82, of near Center Square, Indiana, entered this life on February 9, 1944 in Woodstock, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Perry Stanley and Helen Louise (Bowers) Sager. She was raised in Strasburg, Virginia, where she attended high school. Brenda was united in marriage on March 25, 1990 to Earl T. Hockman in Elkridge, Maryland. Brenda and Earl shared 26 years of marriage together until he passed away on May 10, 2016. Brenda was formerly employed for Levi’s in Strasburg, Virginia, for several years. While residing in Elkridge, Maryland, Brenda dedicated several years to catering and deli work, where she took pride in preparing food and serving others. Brenda had resided in the Switzerland County community since 2017. She was a member of the East Enterprise Homemakers Club, where she served as President for several years. She was a faithful member of the Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Dewberry, Indiana, where she found great joy in attending church and sharing in fellowship with others. Brenda enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, and painting, and treasured the time she spent with her family. Brenda passed away and went to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at her residence.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Tammy Gray of Bennington, IN; her son, Russell Arbogast and his wife, Wendy of Smoaks, SC; her several grandchildren; her several great-grandchildren; her brothers, Clark and Bill Sager; her sisters, Nancy Bryant, Florence Dean, Peggy Dunn, and Doris Dean; and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Perry Stanley Sager; her mother, Helen Louise (Bowers) Sager; her husband, Earl T. Hockman; her daughter, Teresa Arbogast; her son-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” Gray; her brothers, Perry, Guy, and Freddie Sager; and her sister, Barbara Conner.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 5588 East County Road 900 South, Cross Plains, (Dewberry), Indiana 47017.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2026, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 5588 East County Road 900 South, Cross Plains (Dewberry), Indiana 47017.
Interment will follow in the Saint Paul Cemetery, Cross Plains (Dewberry), Indiana.
