Betty L. Mericle, 85, of 600 Riverscape Ct., Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away on July 11, 2026. She was recently a patient at the Waters of Batesville where she passed peacefully.
Betty was born on August 27, 1940, in Milan, Indiana, to Robert Lloyd and Alta Ruth (Baker) Daugherty.
Betty graduated from Aurora High School in 1958 and was active in choir and cheerleading. Betty dedicated many years to caring for others. She worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Houston in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and later at Westside Pediatrics in Bright, Indiana. Beyond her professional career, Betty was a devoted caregiver to her family and many others, always offering compassion and support to those around her. She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Florida with family, attending class reunions, decorating for the holidays and an avid online shopper.
She is survived by her brother, Wayne (Lynne) Daugherty of Vevay, IN; her sister, Pat (Bob) Yelton of Orlando, FL; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alta Daugherty; her beloved husband, Clifford “Butch” Mericle; her cherished children, James, Jason, and Jana Mericle; her twin brother, Gene “Buck” Daugherty and wife Charlotte Morehead Daugherty; her brothers, James of Aurora and wife, Johnnie of Lawrenceburg; and her sister-in-law, Charlotte Morehead.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
