Wayne G. Gauck

Wayne G. Gauck, age 58 of Indianapolis, died Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Born November 8, 1963 in Batesville, he is the son of Carol Ann (Nee: Hoene) and Arnold Gauck. He graduated from Batesville High in 1982 and from Ball State University in 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in finance. He was a member of the Batesville Knights of Columbus #1461.

He worked in the mortgage industry and the last 25 years with Carrington Mortgage Services in Westfield, Indiana. Wayne began with them in the finance department before transitioning into the collections department. He would eventually move over to serve as an Acquisitions and Loan Administrator and was currently serving as a Sr. Quality Assurance Analyst. His work success was due to his work ethic, which he learned from his father, “Show up every day and work hard.” That’s what he did. Wayne also saw the value of giving back. For over 20 years he has been a volunteer and board member of the Indianapolis Komen’s Race for the Cure, as well as holding fund raising activities at his work.

Wayne made it a point to leave work at the office, so when at home, he relaxed doing the things that brought him pleasure, which usually meant being outside. That included keeping the yard mowed and tidy, relaxing in the yard while listening to concerts and sitting on the porch or in the driveway having a cold beer while visiting with family and friends or listening to a CD. An avid music lover, he had a substantial collection to choose from. When asked what he was doing, his favorite response was, “I’m just dinking around.” He will forever be remembered for his plaid shorts – which he wore year-round! That may have had something to do with being a Buffett fan and a Parrott Head. One of his favorite vacation spots was Panama City Beach, Florida. He liked walking the beach and sitting poolside with a beer “chillaxing”.

The youngest of five, he is survived by sisters Yvonne (George) Mehlon, Lynne (Paul) Wonning, both of Batesville; brothers Steve Gauck of Batesville, Mark (Liz) Gauck of Morris; niece Gwen (Mike) Reverman; nephews Chad (Cara) Mehlon, Brad (Jenny) Mehlon as well as several great nieces and nephews, a great great niece, an aunt and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his niece April Mehlon.

Wayne’s wishes were to be cremated. His cremains will be interred in a private service at St. Louis Cemetery. The family would like to invite you to join them for a Celebration of Life from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus on Saturday, June 25th. Memorials may be made in his memory to your favorite charity. For online condolences go to www.weigelfh.com.
