BROOKVILLE, IN — United Way of Franklin County and the Franklin County Community Foundation (FCCF) recently presented a check for $36,000 to Margaret Mary Health (MMH) to expand telehealth services to all schools in the county.

Telehealth uses special technology to enable MMH providers to deliver care using special cameras and speakers.

With assistance from a school nurse, MMH providers are able to diagnose and treat minor injuries and acute illnesses such as strep throat, pink eye, earaches, rashes, colds, and flu.

Parental consent is obtained and fees are billed directly to insurance.

“Such a program is beneficial for the students to get the urgent care they need with minimal class time lost and the parents, who won’t have to miss work for a doctor appointment. Especially in areas of the community where local doctors are over half an hour away,” said Kelly Bulmer, United Way Director. “We are proud to get this wonderful program into our community and happy to again partner with FCCF to maximize our efforts.”
