Bulldogs Win Wild Contest Against Pirates And Eagles

The Bulldogs Win Back-And-Forth Affair Against Greensburg Batesville and Greensburg traded the lead back-and-forth on Saturday, but eventually the Bulldogs prevailed 13-12.

Batesville took the lead for good in the fifth inning. The game was tied at six with the Bulldogs batting in the bottom of the fifth when Zack Blomer doubled off of Duerstock, driving in one run.

Batesville built a seven-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off Greensburg’s charge. Greensburg scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Logan Smith, a walk , and a error. Greensburg left the tying runner stranded on third to end the game.

After the game was tied 2-2 after the first inning, Greensburg scored three runs in the top of the second. The Bulldogs answered with three of their own. Greensburg scored when Logan Smith singled off of Lane Oesterling, driving in one run, there was an error, scoring one run, and Mason McLeod singled off of Oesterling, driving in one run. Batesville then answered when Jacob Christie singled off of Duerstock, driving in two runs and there was an error, scoring one run.

Greensburg scored six runs in the seventh inning. The big inning for Greensburg came thanks to a double by Smith, a walk, an error, and the Bulldogs not being able to throw many strikes.

Oesterling earned the win for Bulldogs and is 4-1 on the year. He went five innings, surrendering six runs (three earned), six hits, and striking out seven. Joe Bohman threw one and two-thirds innings, as two relievers helped Bulldogs finish off the victory. Zack Blomer recorded the last out to earn the save for the Bulldogs. Evan Tallent took the loss for Greensburg. He pitched one inning, surrendering five runs, and two hits.

Batesville collected nine hits. Christie and Blomer each collected multiple hits for Batesville.Christie went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs in hits.

Six RBI Day For Heidlage Leads Bulldogs Past Jac-Cen-Del Batesville defeated Jac-Cen-Del 17-8 on Saturday thanks in part to Sophomore Trey Heidlage who had six RBIs. Heidlage drove in runs on a triple in the fifth, a double in the sixth, and a home run in the seventh.

The Bulldogs’ offense was working Saturday, as they collected 15 hits.

The Bulldogs captured the lead in the first inning, as Zach Britton doubled on a 1-1 count off of the fence scoring one run.

Batesville took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth there was an error, scoring one run, Flint induced Jacob Christie to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Joe Bohman singled off of Flint, driving in one run, and then Campbell walked Zack Blomer to drive in a run.

Blomer earned the win for the Bulldogs. He tossed four innings, allowing four runs, three hits, and striking out five. Raab threw one and two-thirds innings, as two relievers helped the Bulldogs finish off the victory. Flint took the loss for Jac-Cen-Del. He threw three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs, six hits, and striking out three.

Christie, Heidlage, Alex McPherson, and Zach Britton each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs. McPherson, Heidlage and Christie each collected three hits to lead Batesville.

The Bulldogs have won six straight and improve to 16-8 on the season and 8-2 in the EIAC. The Bulldogs will compete against South Dearborn for Youth League Night on Tuesday, May 16th.
