Class 3A #10 Batesville won the 2026 Ripley County Tournament championship after defeating 2A #12 South Ripley 66-55 in the title game at the Dawg Pound as heard Saturday night on the Sports Voice. Tournament MVP Trenten Luers tossed in 23 points to lead the Bulldogs while teammate Kamryn Holcomb added 19. The Raiders’ Drew Volz led all scorers with 24 points. Batesville improves to 9-1 while South Ripley falls to 8-4…

Milan claimed third place in the RCT with a 74-60 win over Jac-Cen-Del in the consolation game. The Indians’ Micah Norman led all scorers with 22 points; Gabe Riehle added 21 and Grant Langferman chipped in 12 points. Blake Wagner led the Eagles with 18 points; Neil Sullivan contributed 15 and Darian Grieshop added 10.  Milan improves to 3-4 while Jac-Cen-Del slips to 3-7.

Batesville won the JV Ripley County Tournament with a 53-34 win over South Ripley in the championship game. The Bulldogs Winston Garrett led the way with 18 points; Hank Bohman added 15, and Levi Hunt contributed 11.

In other boys varsity games on Saturday, South Decatur topped Edinburgh 60-44; Shelbyville knocked off Greensburg 71-61; it was Dixie Heights of Northern Kentucky over East Central 61-44; and Hauser soared over North Decatur 82-57.

In girls basketball on Saturday, Class 3A #2 Greensburg ripped Franklin County 73-34, and 4A #14 East Central clipped Rushville 52-44.

North Decatur 8th grade topped Jac-Cen-Del 54-33 in boys middle school basketball on Saturday. Troy Brown tossed in a game-high 16 points. Teammates Ross Gorrell and Davis Scripture both had 15. The Chargers improve to 21-1.

In the NFL Wild Card playoffs on Sunday, Buffalo eliminated Jacksonville 27-24; San Francisco upset defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia 23-19, and it was New England over the Los Angeles Chargers 16-3…Coming up tonight, Houston is at Pittsburgh.

In men’s college basketball over the weekend, Indiana blew a 16-point first-half lead and lost to #10 Nebraska 83-77. The Cornhuskers remain undefeated…Fifth-ranked Purdue took care of Penn State 93-85. Braden Smith scored 26 points for the Boilermakers…Evansville defeated Indiana State in Miami Valley Conference play 72-69…And Notre Dame lost to Clemson 76-61.
