(Batesville, IN) – City of Batesville Parks Commissioner Mike Baumer says the department’s Facebook page was hacked last week, and the administrator isn’t able to gain access to delete it or make changes.

Baumer calls this “very unfortunate” because they’ve been able to build the page up to 4,500 followers, and he says it’s a great way to share what is going at Batesville’s parks and trails.

In addition, Baumer says the timing is bad because Batesville Parks is working on a new five-year master plan and is using Facebook to get residents to take the short survey and let them know what they want to see in the parks in the coming years.

He says the department will continue working to regain access to the page, but for now, you can either unfollow it or follow the Batesville Parks new Facebook page.

Baumer says reporting it will help Meta – Facebook’s parent company – notice that the page was hacked.

The reporting process is completed by following these steps:

1. Go to the Batesville Parks Facebook page that was hacked.

2. Go to the homepage and one of the posts.

3. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the post.

4. Select “Report Post.”

5. Select “Scam,” “Fraud,” or “False Information.”

6. Select “Fraud” or “Scam.”

7. Click “Submit.”
