
Mr. Kenneth Evan “Kenny” Lawton, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. Kenny was born on the family farm in Bennington, Indiana on December 22, 1934 to Roy E. and Leo Irene (Protsman) Lawton. Kenny was a graduate of the Vevay High School and spent his early years working on the family farm and helping neighbors. As a young adult, he enjoyed watching movies, bowling, writing letters, and spending time with his sister Janice and his close friends. He worked briefly at the US Shoe Factory in Vevay until he found his true passion in buying and selling antiques. He owned and operated Kenneth Lawton Antiques in Versailles, Indiana, for nearly 50 years. He enjoyed attending auctions and traveling with his sister, always seeking new experiences and connections. Kenny was a devoted member of the Bennington Community Church, (formerly Bennington United Methodist Church) where he played the piano for several years. He lived on the family farm until 2018 when his health concerns necessitated a move to a senior apartment in Vevay. Since 2023, Kenneth had been a resident of Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Kenneth is survived by his nieces, Joan Boyer of Noblesville, IN, Kathryn “Kathy” Foster and her husband, Lloyd of Albuquerque, NM, and Nancy Harden of Indianapolis, IN; his nephews, Charles “Phil” Lawton of Indianapolis, IN and James “Jim” Lawton and his wife, Diane of Edwardsville, IL; his special cousin, Dr. Stephen B. Lawton and his wife, Ann of Phoenix, AZ, as well as many cherished friends and neighbors.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Roy E. Lawton and Leo Irene (Protsman) Lawton; his sisters, Janice Ann Lawton and Wilma Nadine (Lawton) Tabor; his brother, Gerald Wayne Lawton; his infant brother, Wendell Vivian Lawton; his nieces, Carolyn “Sue” (Siebenthal) Worley, Martha “Jean” (Siebenthal) Juszczyk, and Margaret Lawton; his sister-in-law, Leota (Detwiler) Lawton; and his brother-in-law, James “Jim” Tabor.
Kenny’s gentle spirit, love of music, and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and the community he loved.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Slawson Cemetery, Bennington, Indiana.
