The Batesville Bulldogs Boys Soccer team were 6-0 victors over The Rushville Lions in a game you heard on 103.9 WRBI!
Batesville once again came out strong with a quick goal just a minute into the match when Calvin Sherwood assisted Ian Powers for a shot into the net. Throughout the first half JJ Kuisel and Ian Powers connected for a total of 6 goals. Each player scored their hat trick. The second half went on with many opportunities, but never again found the net. The final score ended 6-0 with the Bulldogs winning their conference match.

The Batesville Bulldogs Boys Junior Varsity Soccer team hosted Rushville with the game ended up scoreless.
The match was one 40-minute half and was the first action of the season for the JV team. The Bulldogs put together a few promising runs with Grant Peters and Owen Powers taking shots on goal but ultimately, never found the back of the net resulting in a 0-0 tie.
Batesville looks to improve off of the good defensive start and build off of that in the next game.

Shelbyville defeated Oldenburg 3-1 in Varsity Boys Soccer.
Franklin County played Rising Sun tonight at home on a beautiful summer evening. Even more pretty than the weather was the excellent passing and possession game displayed by the Lady Wildcats winning 3-0.
The Lady Wildcats had 10 shots on goal on the first half, dominated play and maintained possession 90% of the time, but couldn’t capitalize.
In the second half Franklin County broke it up and scored three goals in rapid succession:

Goal 3 Jordan Nichols assisted by Dani Bulach
The back line was impenetrable in the first half with barely any possession by Rising Sun on the Wildcats defensive half. Anchored by Claudia Mauntel, and Laura Edwards the Wildcats did not allow a single shot on on goal. Regan Noble, Kaitlyn Brunemann, Taylor Conrad, Dani Bulach, Kalene Dean, Maddie Merritt and Felicity Bohman were exceptionally tough.
The high pressure came from capable and fast strikers Jordan Nichols, Grace Kruthaupt Lauren Kelley and Zoey Gruber.,
The secret sauce came with the contributions of the center midfielders Kylee Gibson, Kamryn Dozier, Kaylin Knapp , Erica Weaver, Karlee Roberts and Regan Noble. The outside midfielders r not only not defended well but played composed and creative in their attack. Halee Barker, Ashley Mauntel, Kloe Bolos and Morgan Stewart were a threat with shooting and excellent crosses to dangerous territory.
Goal keeper Josie Rolfes spent some time on the field and Kalene Dean picked up the one save on the night.

The Greensburg Lady Pirates Varsity Soccer traveled to Oldenburg for their third match of the season.
The Lady Pirates held off the Twisters for 16 minutes until they allowed the first twister goal. Keeper Captain Ella Lowe saw 17 shots in the first half and managed to save all but one. Lowe saw an additional 13 shots in the second half, only allowing two additional to fall in the net.
The Lady Pirates had a light game on attempted shott with only six. Emily Rosales, Macey Smith, Kylie Hostetler, and Kayla Haycock all attempted shots.
The final score was 3-0. This brings the Pirates record to 2-1. They travel to Union County on Saturday with a start time of 10 A.M.

The JCD Middle School Eagles Boys team traveled to South Ripley winning 1-0 scoring at the 24 minute mark by Lane Carroll.
Game stats are: Lane Carroll 1 goal, 7 shots, Brody Huff 2 shots, Grant Rinear 5 shots, 1 assist.
Defensive: Kayden Vachet 3 stops, Sam Simon 3 stops, Berkley Williams 2 stops, Carson Comer 5 stops. Ben Schoettmer 10 Saves.

The Batesville Boys Varsity Tennis team defeated Connersville 3-2 on Thursday.
Cael Rahe at #2 singles, Jaden Smith at #3 singles and the #1 doubles team of Sam Voegele and Max Geisting all won three-set matches to lead the Bulldogs. Batesville is now 1-1 and 1-0 in the EIAC.
In JV action, Hank Ritter/Jackson Tracy won in doubles along with singles wins from Alec Bunselmeier, Chase Schwegman, and Landon Oldham led the Bulldogs to a 4-2 win. Batesville’s JV is now 2-0
The Bulldogs will host Shelbyville on Monday.

The Batesville Bulldogs XC Team hosted the 4 team XC race tonight, Thursday, August 20th against Greensburg, North Decatur and South Decatur. Although not as humid as it has been, the sun was still bright and hot. However, the Bulldogs came ready to race and took advantage of the home course finishing the night with two team victories and all 7 varsity runners in the top 10 of the races. In fact, the boys had the ultimate perfect score with not only scoring the lowest possible of 15 points, but also had all 7 varsity runners as the first 7 to cross the finish line.
The boys were led by Junior Ean Loichinger who just missed breaking 17 with a time of 17:01. He had two teammates closely behind him, Benjamin Moster crossing at 17:12 and Adam Hollowell 17:13. Finishing out the top 7 for the boys were Daren Smith (18:33), Eli Loichinger (18:36), Nathan Villani (18:43) and Will Nuhring (18:58). Greensburg came in 2nd with 55 points, South Decatur 3rd at 81 points and North Decatur 4th with 107 points. Way to go boys!
Although not quite the perfect score, the Girls still had a low score of 24, beating Greensburg by 20 with 44 points. South Decatur just nudged ahead of North Decatur 85-88 for 3rd and 4th. Greensburg’s Brenner Hanna was the overall winner of the girls race beating the field by almost 2:30 minutes with an incredible time of 18:41. Leading the way for Batesville was Ava Hanson claiming 2nd at 21:13, followed closely by Madison Rahschulte at 21:25. The Bulldogs next 5 crossed 6-10th place. In order were Sophie Myers (22:25), Trysta Vierling (22:45), Megan Allgeier (23:31), Lily Pinckley (23:32) and Carley Pride (24:10). Great job ladies!
The Bulldogs did have several personal records broken tonight and they were Adam Hollowell, Eli Loichinger, Will Nuhring, Kyler Daulton and Sean Callahan. Way to go everyone!

The North Decatur Chargers Volleyball team put up a fight against the Lawrenceburg Tigers in 4 sets for the home opener 25-8, 21-25, 25-20, 31-29.
The Chargers fell in the fourth set 31-29 to close out the match. Sr. Jenna Geis led with 4 solo blocks. So. Caroline Stapp led the Chargers with 16 kills followed by So. Madelyn Bohman with 12. Bohman led serving with 5 aces followed by Jr. Lainey Crites with 2 aces. Sr. Anna Burkhart led digs with 12 and Stapp led serve receiving with 28 passes.

The East Central VB teams swept South Dearborn in straight sets at all 3 levels last night to start EIAC play 1-0. Varsity won with the scores of 25-10, 25-9, 25-16.
‘We pushed the girls to work on their offensive connections and I think we are slowly heading in the right direction. We still have some work to do, but these girls are willing to put in the work to get there.’ Trojans Coach Cassie Laker.
Varsity is now 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in EIAC play.

The Batesville Middle School 7th Grade Volleyball Team fell to Jac-Cen-Del in 2 games by the scores 25-20; 25-17.
Inconsistent play from the service line and in serve reception proved to be the difference. We will continue to work on improving our skills and teamwork for next week’s games. Some of the top performances for the night came from Jade Martin who earned 5 points on 7 good serves including 2 aces and Ashlee Sparks with 3 service points including two aces. Reesa Zimmerman picked up 3 kills in the front line. Addilyn Froehling chipped in with a timely kill and a service ace to help the team. Keep working hard, girls!

The BMS 8th graders had another good win this week, defeating Jac-Cen-Del 25-12, 25-11.
Sophie Gesell led all servers with 11 points; including 5 aces. Ave Powner chipped in 7 service points with 4 aces. Aly Peters had 5 service points with 2 aces. Molly Meer and Annie Negavetich each had 4 service points. In the front line Meers had 3 kills, while Peters and Kate Bauer had 2 kills, and Eva Struewing added 1 kill. The back row of Sarah Bedel, Addison Westrick, Ava Williamson, Bauer, Meer, and Negavetich were all scrappy with a lot of digs. The team is now 2-0.

The St. Louis Cardinals traveled to Sunman Dearborn last night for volleyball.
The 7th grade won against Sunman Dearborn in 2 sets. Scores were 25-16 and 25-22. Serving for SLS were Ella King with 9pts, Campbell Miles with 8pts, Mimi Smith with 3pts, and Ava Hollins with 1pt. We had some really great serving streaks that pulled us in the lead. Our back row really pulled off some great serve receives, and digs to keep the ball in action. Nice job ladies you are improving leaps and bounds.
The 8th-grade game wasn’t able to bring home the win, but played a tough Sunman Dearborn 8th grade team. Final scores were 25-16 and 25-12. Serving for SLS were Meg Ritter with 5pts, Ashley Hunter with 2pts, and Paige Watters, Cora Roth, Bridget Lohmueller, and Lucy Abplanalp all bring 1pt to the board. Sunman Dearborn had some spurts of service that we had to adapt in receiving. Our girls never gave up on this and were successfully at shutting it down. We had some great net play with Ashley Hunter and Lucy Abplanalp that got the sideout we were looking for. Nice job by all, keep working hard.
