
Reds Hall of Fame pitcher Joey Jay has died. Jay was the first Little League graduate to become a major leaguer. He pitched for the Reds for six seasons from 1961-66. Jay was an All-Star in 1961, posting a 21-10 record and 3.53 ERA in 34 starts, and helped propel the Reds to the National League pennant that year. Jay was inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame in 2008. Joey Jay was 89.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series champions after rallying to beat the New York Yankees 7-6 in Game 5 last night in the Bronx. LA takes the series four games to one. With the winning grand slam in Game 1 and a record-setting six consecutive World Series games with a home run, Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman was named the series MVP.
