Alta Sue Obermeyer, age 77 of Sunman

Alta Sue Obermeyer, of Sunman, was born on September 25, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, the cherished daughter of Samuel and Loraine Calhoun (née Taylor). She graduated from Batesville High School. Sue was united in marriage to the late Norman Obermeyer, and together they raised three loving children. Sue was very fortunate to be able to remain a homemaker, caring for her household and family. She was also very proud to become an ordained minister, a role she embraced wholeheartedly by providing outreach services to those incarcerated or going through difficult times in their lives. Her strong belief in God and in treating others as you would wish to be treated inspired her to give to and help others whenever she could.

In her spare time, Sue loved mowing the grass, weed eating, and tending to her flower beds. She took great pride in keeping her property looking its very best. She also enjoyed cooking and singing. Sue had a special love for her canine companion, Bailey, her beloved little Shih Tzu.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the age of 77, Sue passed away peacefully following a brief health battle at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Those surviving who will carry Sue’s legacy forward include her three children, Lorraine Offill (fiancé Charlie Mason), Samuel Obermeyer (Teresa Caudill), and Norman Obermeyer (Melinda Wenning); grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Anthony (Allison) Offill, Michael Jacob Offill, Jared Obermeyer, Olivia Obermeyer, Abby Hann, Mariah Hann, Seth Wenning, Brennan Cornett and Amberly Cornett; eight siblings, Janette Calhoun, Johnny Calhoun, Homer Calhoun, Janice (Steve) Hountz, Gene Calhoun, Timmy (Susan) Calhoun, Zelda (Roger) Force, and Renee (Larry) Smith; and one sister-in-law, Debbie Calhoun. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Obermeyer; as well as four siblings, Robert “Bob” Calhoun, Bonnie Sloan, David Calhoun, and James “Jimbo” Calhoun.
