Mr. David E. “Dave” Hutton, age 69, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on August 25, 1956 in Covington, Kentucky. He was the son of the late James Kirtley and Delores Jane (Hall) Hutton. He was raised in Covington, Kentucky and was a 1974 graduate of Gallatin County High School. After high school, Dave worked in maintenance for Dayton-Walther in Carrollton, Kentucky, from 1974-2007. While employed by Dayton-Walther, he attended trade school and earned his Journeyman certification. Dave was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Janet Lynn Armstrong on November 29, 1974 at the Glencoe Baptist Church. This happy union of 28 years was blessed with four children, Nate, Krey, AJ, and Jessie. Dave was later united in marriage on July 22, 2006 to Helen Marie Swango in Warsaw, Kentucky, and they shared 18 years together until her death on June 15, 2024. Since 2009, Dave was employed in maintenance for Schwan’s in Florence, Kentucky. Dave was a member of United Auto Workers Union #1813 of Louisville, Kentucky. Throughout his life, Dave enjoyed boating, fishing, bowling, and playing chess, a game at which he was remarkably skilled and rarely, if ever, lost. He was gifted with a natural talent for mechanics and problem solving; he could seemingly fix anything placed in his hands and delighted in tinkering with projects of all kinds. He also had a passion for computers and technology and enjoyed spending time outdoors whenever possible. His faithful dog, Holly, was his constant companion and held a very special place in his heart. Their bond was one of loyalty, friendship, and unconditional love. Dave passed away at 2:34 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dave is survived by his companion, Janet Lynn (Armstrong) Hutton of Worthville, KY; his sons, Nate Hutton of Worthville, KY, Krey Hutton of Worthville, KY, and AJ Hutton and his wife, Katie of Lebanon, OH; his daughter, Jessie Lowrance and her husband, Chad of Clay City, KY; his step sons, Mike Bennett and his wife, Dee of St. Louis, MO, Shawn Bennett and his wife, Deb of Switzerland County, IN, Kevin Peelman and his wife, Angie of Seymour, IN, Tony Peelman and his wife, Kim of Madison, IN, and Travis Peelman and his wife, Sherri of Vevay, IN; his grandchildren, Chanity, Chaylon, Chesley, Wesson, Andrew, Nate, Maddie, Brittney, Chelsey, Adrienne, Amber, Ashley, Austin, Zach, Trevor, Dylan, Jaylen, Karson, and Maci; his several step-great-grandchildren; his brother, James Ray “Jim” Hutton and his wife, Debi of Peel, AK; and his sister, Lana Snell and her husband, Rick of Owenton, KY.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Kirtley Hutton; his mother, Delores Jane (Hall) Hutton; and his wife, Helen Marie (Swango) Peelman, died June 15, 2024.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2026, by Bro. Shawn McMullen, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
