Pacers Guard Suspended

Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin

DETROIT — Indiana Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin was suspended for one game without pay Wednesday night for making inappropriate contact and verbally abusing an official.

The incident happened Tuesday night with 3:58 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Pacers 127-117 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Video shows him bumping into and yelling at the official after he was charged with a foul.

The NBA says Mathurin will serve his suspension on Thursday when the Pacers visit the Detroit Pistons.

The suspension will cost him $41,642.

He’s averaging 16.5 points in 41 games this season.

The Pacers get back to work tonight against the Detroit Pistons in the Motor City. They may once again be without Tyrese Haliburton as well as he continues to deal with an injured groin. He’s listed as questionable for tonight.
