Carolyn Ann Rutter, age 76, of Osgood, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was born on August 17, 1949, in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles and Rosalie (Scroggins) Warner. Carolyn attended Switzerland County schools before entering the workforce. She spent several years employed at the U.S. Shoe Factory in Osgood. She later worked with the rides at local fairs, that is where she met Rex Rutter. The couple married and shared many happy years together until his passing in 2020.
Carolyn made her home in the Osgood community for many years. She enjoyed attending the fair, reading books, and listening to Elvis Presley. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, David Smith Jr. of Osgood and Ryan Smith of Versailles; her daughter, Marlee (Bill) Hannum of Greensburg; her grandsons, Bryan, Colton, and Dalton Smith; and her granddaughters, Violet, Lilly, and Daisy Hannum.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Rutter; her son, Jonathon Smith; and her daughters, Sabrina Clark and Conswella Smith.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m.
Burial will take place at Vevay Cemetery, in Vevay, Indiana.
