Lady Wildcats Fall To Lady Knights

Franklin County Wildcats Varsity lost the lead late in a 3-1 defeat to South Dearborn on Wednesday after several defensive miscues. The game was tied at one with South Dearborn batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored two runs for South Dearborn. The loss takes Franklin County’s record down to 6-2 on the year and 2-2 in EIAC play, while the victory brings South Dearborn’s record to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in EIAC play.

Franklin County got on the board in the second inning. Gabby Mitchum was able to get on base via walk, and then advanced to second base on a single by Kloe Bolos. Then with two outs, Tessa Harper drew a walk, loading the bases for the Wildcats. A wild pitch the next at bat scored Mitchum from third and that was the only offense that the Wildcats could muster.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, South Dearborn tied things up at one when an error scored one run for South Dearborn.

Olivia Nagel was the winning pitcher for South Dearborn. She surrendered one run on two hits over seven innings, striking out eight.

Kendall McCool took the loss for Franklin County moving her record to 2-1 on the season. She pitched six innings, allowing three hits and three unearned runs while striking out ten and walking zero.

Kloe Bolos and Gabby Mitchum had the lone hits to lead Franklin County.

The Wildcats will be back in action Thursday evening as they are set to have a non-conference match-up with the Milan Indians. First pitch is set for 5pm.
