Kathryn Schoettmer, 86

Kathryn (Meyer) Schoettmer, 86, Greensburg, passed peacefully away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg with her family by her side. Born, November 13, 1931 in Greensburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Bernard and Frances (Ricke) Meyer.  She was a stay at home mom, deeply devoted to her children while actively volunteering in civic, community, and children’s activities. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, St. Lawrence Auxiliary, Modern Trends Extension Homemakers, Decatur County Hospital Auxiliary volunteers, Decatur County Extension Board, and Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She served many years on the Decatur County Fair Board and contributed many years as a 4-H leader (teaching youth to sew).  She helped at the St. Mary’s Library and with Boy Scouts (raising three Eagle Scouts). She was married to Robert J. Schoettmer at St. Mary’s Church Greensburg, on October 30, 1954 and he survives. She is also survived by her children: Gary & Heather Schoettmer, Beavercreek, Ohio, Keith & Darla Schoettmer, Tipton, Indiana, Kathy Schoettmer, Westfield, Indiana, Mark & Holly Schoettmer, Indianapolis; daughter in law, Sallie Schoettmer, Troy, Ohio; Grandchildren: Benjamin, Daniel, Jason, Amanda, Sarah, Brianna, Gloria and Francine Schoettmer, Emily Sentman, Kristin Flora, Kelli Sears; nine Great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joanne Leppert. Family and friends will gather at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home to pray the rosary.  Visitation will follow until 5:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.   The family will also receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg.
