Jim Menkedick, 63, Westport, Indiana

James Joseph “Jim” Menkedick, 63, of Westport, passed away at 8:03 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at his residence. He was born on June 16, 1961 in Greensburg, Indiana the son of Thomas Joseph and Nancy Louise (Cathey) Menkedick. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and a 1980 graduate of South Decatur High School. He was a member of the Decatur County Fair Board for 12 years, a member of the Westport Area Community Building Board and the 7 Indiana Garden Tractor Pulling Association. Jim enjoyed camping, farming, tractor pulling and dirt track racing. He married Elizabeth “Beth” Brindley on February 7, 1998 in Westport and she survives. Other survivors include his parents; his children, Norman Menkedick of California, James C. Menkedick, Rachel Menkedick both of Westport, Tyler Menkedick of North Vernon, Spencer Hitchel of Westport, Landon (Brittany) Hitchel of Canaan, Indiana, and Abigail Menkedick of Westport; a brother, Tim Menkedick of Westport and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie & Jonnie Menkedick. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
