George Marcum Jr.

           George Marcum Jr., 69, of Milan passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.  George was born Wednesday, February 14, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of the late Shirley (Landenwitsch) and George Marcum Sr.  He married Janice Ruppee on July 16, 1972 and she survives.  He worked at Andrew Jergens as a machinist for many years then opened A to Z Automotive which he owned and operated for 10 years, located in Cincinnati on William Dooley Bypass before retiring in Tennessee.  His hobbies included all things car related.  He rebuilt motors, painted, and restored old cars.  He loved street rods, car shows and race cars which he drove for a few years.  He also liked working around the house fixing things.  He was a volunteer firefighter for the Pine Grove Fire Department in Tennessee.

George is survived by his wife Janice Marcum of Milan, Indiana; daughters Pam (Jim) Sumpter of Sharonville, Ohio, Paula Franke of Harrison, Ohio, Trisha (Bryan) Shepherd of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, and Jillian Marcum (Jesse Wood IV) of Fort Thomas, Kentucky; sons Tim (Tyra) Burdette of Milan, Indiana and Tom Burdette of Milan, Indiana; sisters Dale Bucalo of Cincinnati, Ohio and Janet Nieto of California; twenty grandchildren;  many great-grandchildren; and several great great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and George Marcum Sr., brother Ron Marcum, sister Joan Marcum, grandsons Nicholas Franke and Grayson Shepherd.

A visitation will be held from 10 AM – 12 PM Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A service celebrating his life will be held at 12 PM Thursday, December 3, 2020 also at the funeral home with Rev. Marty Westermeyer officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery, 1523 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Kentucky 41075.  Memorials may be given in honor of George to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements, 707 S.
