(Versailles, IN) – The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office says it’s seeing meaningful results from its Reentry Program.
It’s an initiative designed to reduce repeat offenses and improve overall public safety by helping jail inmates successfully transition back into the community.
The program uses Reentry Specialists who begin working with prisoners as early as the intake process.

Their focus is to identify and address key factors that often contribute to criminal behavior, including substance abuse, lack of education, and unemployment.
The sheriff’s office says, by targeting these areas early, the program aims to equip people with the tools and resources they need to make lasting, positive changes.
Through individualized planning, inmates are connected with community resources, educational opportunities, and employment support prior to their release.
Deputies say this proactive approach helps ensure that people leave the facility with a clear plan and realistic goals for their future.
Sheriff Rob Bradley says the program is quite important.
“The goal of these services is to help inmates reenter society with a plan, goals, and resources,” Bradley said. “In the past, most inmates leave the jail and return to the same circumstances that brought them there to begin with. My hope is that we can help them return to society under better circumstances and not return.”
Authorities say the program would not have been possible without the continued support and collaboration of Ripley County Court Services, Ripley County Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council (JRAC), and 1 Voicerecovery.org, whose partnership has been instrumental in expanding access to resources and services for people in custody.
The Ripley County Sheriff s Office says it remains committed to enhancing public safety through innovative and practical approaches, and that by investing in reentry efforts, the agency aims to break the cycle of recidivism, strengthen families, and build a safer community for all residents.
