It’s a happy holiday for the Reds, after they hung on for a second straight night in New York, to beat the Yankees again, this time 3-2.

Cincinnati finished with closer Alexis Diaz on the mound, New York hitting one of his pitches directly to Noelvi Marte at 3rd, who quickly winged it to Jonathan India at 2nd, and he zipped it to first for the double play that ended the game with a victory.

Starting pitcher Andrew Abbott was credited with the win after 6 1/3 innings, giving up only 3 hits and 1 earned run to the Yanks.  And Marte broke out of an 0 for 16 hitting slump in a dramatic way in the 2nd inning, pulling his first homer of the season into the left field stands to grab the initial lead. The Reds’ other score came on a solo dinger from outfielder Stuart Fairchild, leading off the top of the 5th.  Today, Frankie Montas gets the start for Cincinnati.  He’s 3 & 6, going up against the Yanks’ Marcus Stroman who’s 7 & 3 on the season.  Join us this afternoon for some holiday ball as the Reds look for a road sweep, the broadcast arriving on your radio at 12:35, only on the Sports Voice, 103.9, WRBI.
