The Cincinnati Reds made a few deals before Major League Baseball’s Trade Deadline at 6 p.m. Monday. The Reds traded first baseman/designated hitter Nathaniel Lowe to the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for righthanded pitcher Alejandro Rivera and infielder Juan Brito. Rodriguez is expected to be in the starting lineup tonight when the Reds open a three-game series against the Athletics in downtown Cincinnati. Brady Singer (5-10, 4.35 ERA) starts for the Reds against A’s righthander J.T. Ginn (8-6, 3.46 ERA). Coverage begins at 6:10 on 103.9 FM.
In college football, the Indiana-Notre Dame home-and-home series scheduled for 2030 and 2031 has been canceled, according to multiple reports. The series, first announced in 2021, would have sent the Hoosiers to South Bend in 2030 and the Fighting Irish to Bloomington in 2031. The cancellation comes after Notre Dame announced Monday it is renewing its historic rivalry with USC, scheduling a four-game series against the Trojans starting in 2030. It also leaves IU with no scheduled nonconference games against power conference opponents. The two programs last met in the 2024 College Football Playoff, a matchup Notre Dame won 27-17 in South Bend.
The Indianapolis Colts have signed undrafted free agent cornerback Mehki Rodgers and waived injured corner Cameron Mitchell. If Mitchell clears waivers, he’ll revert to the Colts’ Injured Reserve list. Rodgers took part in the Colts 2026 rookie mini camp on a tryout basis. He played 13 games – including one start – last season at James Madison University, where he registered eight tackles (four solo) and one pass defense.
