The Cincinnati Reds’ walked off the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 in the four-game series lid lifter at Great American Ball Park heard last night on WRBI. A fielder’s choice off the bat of Nathaniel Lowe in the bottom of the 9th inning plated Elly De La Cruz with the winning run. Rhett Lowder kept the Reds in the game. He pitched six innings, allowed two earned runs, five hits, no walks, and struck out five. Emilio Pagan got the win in relief. His record goes to 2-1. Game two of the series is tonight. Hunter Greene (2-2, 7.06 ERA) starts for the Reds against Pirates ace Paul Skenes (9-9, 3.65 ERA). Coverage begins at 5:40 on 103.9 FM.

Before last night’s game, the Reds made a series of roster moves. Infielder Matt McLain was reinstated from the Injured List and Edwin Arroyo was optioned to Triple-A Louisville. Pitcher Zach McClambey was recalled from the minors and Chase Petty was sent down.

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Shemar Stewart avoided a worst case scenario and was diagnosed with a hyperextended left knee. Stewart avoids surgery but is expected to miss several weeks. He was injured on the first day of training camp on Wednesday.

Contract talks between running back Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts are heating up again. Taylor is in the final season of a three-year, 42-million-dollar deal with the Colts. He says talks are “going in the right direction.” Taylor has been one of the league’s most productive running backs each of the last two seasons, and is the Colts’ second all-time leading rusher…

Colts rookie linebacker CJ Allen has been removed from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. The 2026 second-round pick was placed on PUP earlier this week with a muscle strain. Wide receiver Alec Pierce remains on PUP. He’s recovering from offseason ankle surgery.

The Indiana Fever may be without the services of forward/center Aliyah Boston tonight in Portland against the Fire. One day after she was listed as “Out” with a knee injury, Boston’s status is now listed as a “Game Time Decision.” Boston suffered the injury in the Fever’s win at Seattle on Tuesday night. Indiana has won four in a row and stands at 18-10 on the year. Tipoff tonight in the City of Roses is at 10 p.m.

The Indiana Pacers’ Gold Pinstripe uniforms are making a comeback. They’ll be used as an alternate uniform during the upcoming NBA season. The Gold Pinstripes served as the Pacers’ primary uni in the late ’90’s and early 2000s.
