Warrant Service in Laurel Leads to Arrest

(Laurel, IN) – A man is in custody after Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies served an arrest warrant Thursday morning in Laurel.

The sheriff’s office says deputies were assisted by the Laurel Police Department in executing the warrant at 149 W. Commerce Street.

During the investigation, 70-year-old Jerry Abrams was arrested without incident.

Deputies say they saw suspected narcotics and drug-related paraphernalia in plain view.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators say about 172 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine was found in the home along with other items commonly associated with the distribution and use of illegal narcotics.

Abrams was taken to the Franklin County Security Center, where he was held on multiple felony and misdemeanor drug and paraphernalia-related charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
