Dorothy L. Summey, age 92, of Brookville, Indiana went home to be with her Lord, Monday, April 13, 2026 at her residence in Brookville.
Born August 23, 1933, in New Market, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Rev. James Alford & Grace (Foster) Walker. She became the wife of John B. Summey, and he preceded her in death in 1977.
She retired from Hill-Rom in Batesville, Indiana, where she dedicated many years of service. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, shopping, taking vacations to Tennessee, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include seven children, Gail Kaiser of Indianapolis, Indiana, Brenda Tomlin of Brookville, Indiana, Gary Summey of Indianapolis, Indiana, James Summey of Oak Forest, Indiana, Jenny Ryckman of Connersville, Indiana, Joyce Davis of Oak Forest, Indiana Ramona Alig of Brookville, Indiana; two sisters, Margaret Leeper and Judy Leeper both of Knoxville, Tennessee, sister-in-law, Sharon Walker of Knoxville, Tennessee; 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Margaret Brooks Walker, her husband John, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Maxine Clark, a son, Mike Summey, three brothers, Benjamin Walker, James O. ‘Jack’ Walker, George Walker.
Family & friends may visit from 10 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Brandon Leeper & Jason Summey will officiate the Funeral Service on Friday, April 17, 2026, 12:00 Noon at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
