
East Central nipped Batesville 1-0 in varsity baseball at Lawrenceburg on Monday afternoon as part of the Reds Futures High School Showcase.
Brayeden Reis’ RBI single with two outs in the bottom the 7th inning provided the game’s only run and lifted the Trojans to the win.
Reis went 1-for-4 at the plate, including the game-winning hit.
Cole Reynolds led the Trojan offense, going 2-for-3 at the dish.
EC pitching struck out four Bulldog hitters, while BHS hurlers sat down 12.
Ethan Wynn was the East Central starting pitcher and did not give up a run nor a hit in 3 innings, while walking six and fanning three.
Dane Dudley started for Batesville and gave up three hits over 5 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out 11 and walking one.
The Trojans square their overall record at 3-3 and improve to 2-1 in the EIAC; the Bulldogs drop to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Batesville visits Columbus North on Tuesday afternoon. East Central will pay the Bulldogs a visit on Thursday.
