In Week Eight high school football action last night, Franklin County topped Batesville 31-17; East Central rolled over Greensburg 49-0; it was Milan 48, South Decatur 14; North Decatur destroyed Edinburgh 82-0; Rushville downed South Dearborn 30-10, and Lawrenceburg dumped Connersville 51-0.

It’s Championship Saturday with boys and girls soccer sectional title games involving several area teams. Oldenburg Academy takes on host Milan tonight for the boys Class 1A Sectional 44 championship. WRBI coverage begins around 7 p.m. with Terrance Arney on the call. Elsewhere, East Central faces host Center Grove in boys 3A action. In girls soccer sectional championship matches, OA plays host Rising Sun this afternoon; East Central plays Greenfield-Central for the New Palestine sectional title, and South Dearborn goes up against Lawrenceburg for the Batesville sectional crown.

The Los Angeles Dodgers advanced to the National League Championship Series by knocking off the San Diego Padres 2-0 to take the Division Series three games to two. Game Five of the American League Division Series between Detroit and Cleveland has been moved up to a 1 p.m. first pitch because of expected inclement weather.

In college football today, Purdue is at Illinois, Notre Dame welcomes in Stanford, Ball State visits Kent State, Butler goes to Drake, Indiana State is home against Murray State, UC travels to Central Florida, Kentucky entertains Vanderbilt, and Louisville journeys to Virginia.

In the NFL, the Colts visit the Tennessee Titans in an AFC South matchup tomorrow. Kickoff in Nashville is at 1:00.  RB Jonathan Taylor has been ruled out for Indianapolis. He will miss his second straight game since suffering an ankle injury in the Week Four win over Pittsburgh. The Bengals visit the New York Giants for Sunday Night Football. Kickoff at the Meadowlands is set for 8:20.

And the NASCAR Cup series playoffs continue tomorrow at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
