
The Cincinnati Reds hammered the Washington Nationals 15-1 to avoid the series sweep at Great American Ball Park in a game heard yesterday on WRBI. JJ Bleday homered twice and drove in six runs. Matt McLain and Dane Myers also homered for the Reds. Chase Burns pitched six scoreless innings of two-hit baseball, striking out seven and walking two. Burns gets the win and runs his record to 5-1. The Reds end the homestand at 3-3. They’ll begin a six-game, two-city road trip with the first of three tonight at in-state rival Cleveland. Lefthander Andrew Abbott makes the start for the Reds. He’ll be opposed by Guardians righthander Tanner Bibee. Coverage begins at 6:40 on 103.9 FM.
Catcher P.J. Higgins, who was designated for assignment by the Reds on Wednesday, has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to the Triple-A Louisville Bats.
The NFL released the 2026 schedule last night. The Cincinnati Bengals will “Open in Orange” at home against Tampa Bay on Sept. 13; play Atlanta in Madrid, Spain on Nov. 8, and will have three prime time games. They’ll host Pittsburgh for Sunday Night Football on Nov. 15; visit Washington on Nov. 23 for Monday Night Football, and will entertain Baltimore on New Year’s Eve for Thursday Night Football…The Indianapolis Colts kick off the season at home against Baltimore on Sept. 13, and they’ll play Washington in London, England on Oct. 4. The Colts have two prime time games, both on the road: at Kansas City on Sept. 20 for Sunday Night Football, and at Houston on Nov. 19 for Thursday Night Football.
