For the first time since at least 1994, the Chargers have started their season 5-0 with a road victory over the Lapel Bulldogs. The Bulldogs, who were celebrating their homecoming, scored first on the back of premier running back Tyler Dollar, but would not find the end zone again until the third quarter. The Chargers, however, methodically scored on their second drive and then continued to find the end zone 3 more times before the half. On an uncharacteristic night, the Chargers did give up 18 points and 411 yards of offense but despite moving the ball, the Bulldogs could not fully capitalize on their offense. For any fans of special teams, the game held a certain fascination with blocked field goals, muffed punt snaps, fakes, and touchbacks. The Chargers continue to take advantage of newcomer Aiden O’dell’s leg with booming kick-offs and consistent points after. The Chargers will continue to develop Aiden into a field goal scorer as well. The dynamic duo of Messer and Evans accounted for 249 of the Chargers 250 yards of rushing offense. Carson Parmer was 8 of 15 with 1 interception for a total of 84 yards. The Chargers next face Rushville at home with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m. this coming Friday.
