DEARBORN COUNTY, IN — Bond has been set at $1 million for a Milan man facing child molesting charges in Dearborn County.

Daryn Deamron (pictured) is charged with Child Molesting (Level 1 Felony) and Sexual Misconduct with a Minor (Level 4 Felony).

Prosecutor Lynn Deddens said the investigation began on March 9, 2022, when the alleged victim made disclosures of sexual abuse to her school counselor.

During an emergency Children’s Advocacy Center interview conducted in Dillsboro, the 14-year-old girl disclosed that the sexual abuse started in 2020 when she was 13 and happened multiple times through July 2021.

That same evening following the interview, investigators with the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police executed a search warrant in Ripley County on Deamron’s pickup truck and camper, where he was living.

Deddens said while detectives were at Deamron’s residence, he made statements that the alleged incidents took place in Dearborn County.

“Educators have always been at the front line for reporting sexual abuse. Since the COVID pandemic started, cases of child abuse have risen while students disclosing alleged abuse have dropped. This makes the role of teachers and staff in fighting abuse more critical now than ever,” Deddens said. “I am glad that the alleged victim was in school and made the disclosure to her guidance counselor. It takes everyone to work together to protect our children.”

Deamron appeared for his initial hearing in Dearborn Superior Court I on Monday, March 28.

Judge Jonathan Cleary set Deamron’s bond and ordered him not to have contact with the alleged victim.
