Dillsboro, In. — A long-time southeastern Indiana minister, Korean War veteran and public servant has died. Rev. Arnold John Cutter, 86, of Dillsboro passed away Sunday at his home near Fairview.
After completing his basic training at Camp Atterbury in 1952, Cutter served in Korea with I Cavalry Division, 5th Regiment as a truck driver. At the end of the war he helped transport North Korean prisoners of war to Japan. He was discharged in 1954 as a corporal.
He received the Korean Service Ribbon with two bronze service stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
After his service, he farmed, worked at Schindley’s Distillery and in 1974 he was called to the Methodist ministry. After retiring from the distillery when it closed he worked as a pastor full-time. He served worshipers at churches in Bethel Ridge, East Enterprise, Quercus Grove, Mt. Pleasant, Ogilville and Bennington.
He and his wife Annette were crowned Homecoming King and Queen in 2005. He received the Dearborn County “Heart of Gold Award” in 2008 and the Dillsboro Outstanding Service Award to the community in 2010.
Friends may call 4- 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St., Vevay, Indiana.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 11 a.m., by the Rev. Keith Allhands and Eddie Hankinson, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St., Vevay.
Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery on Beatty Road in Dillsboro.
Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post 185 and the Vevay VFW Post 5396 at the cemetery.
