Leland Wayne “Butch” Russell, 76, of Moores Hill passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Ross Manor in Dillsboro. Butch was born Sunday, November 30, 1941 in Moores Hill, IN the son of Lloyd and Bernice (Lows) Russell. He married Wanda Ryle June 9, 1961 and she survives. Butch retired from Fernald as a rigger and was a custodian for Moores Hill Elementary School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a former member of Moores Hill First Baptist Church and member of Iron Workers Labor Union. He enjoyed farming, IU sports, watching the Reds and Bengals, was an avid reader, loved telling jokes, an Elvis fan, loved his family and enjoyed eating out at different restaurants.
Butch is survived by wife Wanda, sons Troy (Dee) Russell and Todd (Debra) Russell, daughter Michelle (Robert Adams) Russell all of Moores Hill, brother Bob (Kay) Russell of Moores Hill, sisters: Carol Calhoun of OH, Linda (Randy) Ickenroth of Moores Hill and Bonnie (Reid) Walker of Milan, grandchildren: Shane (Sarah) Russell, Scot (Jenna) Russell, Chris (Alyssa) Russell, Josh (Brenna Burke) Russell, Kendra (Melf Nissen) Walker and Dylon Walker and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Vickie Fuller.
A service celebrating his life will be 10 AM Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Shawn McMullen officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Moores Hill, with full Military Rites provided by Moores Hill American Legion Post #209. Family and friends may gather to share and remember him 5 – 8 PM Wednesday, November 28 also at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in honor of Butch to Forest Hill Cemetery or Donor’s Choice.
