Indiana Supreme Court hears arguments for and against state’s abortion law

Indianapolis, IN — The Indiana Supreme Court heard arguments from both sides in the battle over the state’s near-total abortion ban on Thursday.

The ban is currently blocked by an injunction issued by an Owen County judge.

It was passed by the General Assembly last summer after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade and signed into law in August by Gov. Eric Holcomb.

The law would allow for abortions in cases of rape or incest up to the 10th week of pregnancy or in cases in which the mother’s life is in jeopardy.

There’s no timeline for when the Court will issue an opinion.
