Greensburg council approves first reading on golf cart regulations

Greensburg, IN — Greensburg City Council last night approved the first reading of an ordinance regulating golf cart usage on city streets. The proposal would allow for properly equipped and fully insured golf carts to be driven in town. The rules would be similar to the ones approved last year for UTVs. Police Chief Brendan Bridges says he’s open to trying new things, but his department has received calls in recent years about juveniles driving and piling onto the carts. He says anyone not following the city ordinance would be cited and have their golf cart towed.  Bridges adds they need to make sure everyone operates the golf carts correctly and safely. A couple of council members also expressed concerns about safety, but voted in favor of the ordinance on the first reading.
