(Batesville, IN) – The Batesville Community Education Foundation (BCEF) has donated $4,000 to the Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC) for outdoor seating at Batesville High School’s (BHS) new family patio area.

The donation was made in memory of Edwin Hunter, long-time Batesville resident, Batesville Bulldog parent, and school supporter.

Hunter was an Indiana State Trooper for 27 years until retiring. He then worked for Adult Protective Services for 10 more years. Through it all, he was a consummate Batesville Bulldog fan, as all six of his children and numerous grandchildren graduated from Batesville High School.

When he passed away in January of 2023, his family selected BCEF as one of the charities to which donations could be made in his memory.

“When our foundation receives donations in the memory of a loved one, our usual stipulation is that our board places those monies in our general fund for our programming,” explained Anne Wilson, BCEF executive director. “However, given that three of Hunter’s children are currently on the BCSC staff, our board thought it would be more appropriate to select a meaningful gift that would impact the Batesville Bulldog family. The new family patio offers an elevated view for both football games and track events. Now that it’s complete, we thought it was the right time to donate in Hunter’s memory.”

“It’s a fitting gift, as it’s located right where our dad used to stand to watch Batesville Bulldog athletic events,” said Hunter’s daughter Jackie Huber. “The memory of our dad lives on here.”
