Falls of the Ohio interpretive center celebrates 25 years

Clarksville, In. — Falls of the Ohio State Park is hosting a series of events on Jan. 26 and 27 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its interpretive center, which opened January 1994.

The weekend celebration offers 1994 admission rates of $2 for adults and $1 for children. Members of the Falls of the Ohio Foundation are admitted free with their membership card. Parking for this event is free.

The celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Cake and refreshments will be served. Special activities at the park include:

– Mandy Dick, a re-enactor who portrays George Rogers Clark’s sister, Lucy, will be in the exhibit gallery from noon to 4 p.m. both days.

– First property manager Troy McCormick will tell stories about the development of the Interpretive Center on Jan. 26 at 2 p.m.

– Falls of the Ohio Foundation executive director Dani Cummins will speak about the development of the park and center on Jan. 27 at 2 p.m.

– The park will offer behind the scenes tours beginning at 11 a.m. on the hour with the last tour departing at 3 p.m. both days.

Free hands-on activities will be scattered throughout the Interpretive Center. Guests are encouraged to leave their memories of the Falls on a message board for posterity.

Throughout 2019, the park will feature a monthly silver anniversary series with programs covering what has been learned since the park first opened its doors.
