Bulldogs Sweep Lions On The Diamond

  • The Batesville Bulldogs weathered a push by Rushville in the sixth inning where the Bulldogs coughed up three runs, but the Bulldogs still won 7-4 on Monday. The big inning for Rushville came thanks to a single by Mason Springman and a double by Tyler Wilson.
  • In the first inning, Batesville got their offense started, as Calvin Sherwood singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
  • The Bulldogs put up five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Batesville was led by Quinn Werner, Sherwood, Joe Bohman and Jayden Beal, all driving in runs in the frame.
  • Bohman was credited with the victory for Batesville He went six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking zero. He is 3-3 on the year. Freshman Sam Voegele threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen to close out the game.
  • Aaron Duncan took the loss for Rushville. He went six innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out six.
  • Sherwood went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs in hits. Batesville stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Kyle Siefert led the way with two.
  • The win puts the Bulldogs even on the year at 10-10 and 4-7 in the EIAC. Batesville will take on the Hauser Jets for Youth League Night at the Plex on Tuesday, May 8th.Courtesy of Bulldogs Coach Justin Tucker.

    The Batesville Bulldogs JV Baseball team continued their winning streak pushing it to 7 straight. They played conference opponent Rushville and came up victorious by a score of 10-8. The Bulldogs ended up with 10 hits led by Adam Cox who went 3-4 with a triple and Garrett Lee and Seth Gausman each chipped in two hits a piece.

    Nate Eckstein started on the mound and threw 4 solid innings only giving up 2 earned runs. Clay Grunkemeyer came in in relief and did a good job of holding them in check not allowing any earned runs. Bulldog pitchers combined to only allow 2 earned runs only walk one and they struck out 7.

    JV record improves to 9-3 overall and 6-3 in conference play. The Bulldogs will travel to Rushville on Thursday to play the Lions. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. at the High School.
