(Greensburg, IN) – A former bank employee who was arrested last summer on theft charges has been sentenced to more than 100 days behind bars after pleading guilty this week in Decatur Circuit Court.
Melissa Kramer of Greensburg was accused of taking $44,443 from the Napoleon State Bank between January 1, 2022 and March 1, 2025 while employed as an assistant manager.
She was arrested on August 22, 2025 and charged with two counts of Fraud (Level 5 felonies) and one count of Theft (Level 6 felony) following an Indiana State Police investigation that began a year ago this month.
Kramer pled guilty to the theft charge, with the two fraud counts dropped as part of the plea agreement.
Judge Timothy Day accepted the plea deal and sentenced Kramer to 540 days in jail with 420 days suspended to probation.
She was also awarded four days of jail credit, and four days of good time credit.
Kramer’s jail sentence could be reduced further through good-time credit.
Restitution was paid in full at sentencing along with $389 in court costs.
