North Decatur Softball Splits Back to Back 12-0 Outcomes

(Greensburg, IN) – North Decatur varsity softball gained a split in back to back nights.

The Chargers beat Waldron 12-0 on Tuesday, thanks to a 10-run 1st inning.

Meanwhile, North Decatur fell to Knightstown by an identical 12-0 score on Wednesday evening.

The following information details the 12-0 win over Waldron:

“Kendall Hostkoetter collected three hits in three at bats, as North Decatur Varsity Chargers defeated Waldron Varsity Mohawks 12-0 on Tuesday. Hostkoetter doubled in the first inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.

“North Decatur Varsity Chargers won thanks in part to 10 runs in the first inning. Hostkoetter doubled, scoring one run, Libby Crawford singled, scoring two runs, Brooklyn White singled, scoring one run, Ally Whitaker grounded out, scoring one run, Elizabeth Meister singled, scoring one run, Carmen Thackery singled, scoring two runs, Hostkoetter singled, scoring one run, and Crawford singled, scoring one run.

“North Decatur Varsity Chargers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Hostkoetter singled down the left field line, and Hostkoetter scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.

“White stepped in the circle first for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. The righty allowed five hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking three. Haddison Johnson led things off in the circle for Waldron Varsity Mohawks. The starting pitcher surrendered 14 hits and 12 runs (11 earned) over four innings, striking out none and walking two.

“North Decatur Varsity Chargers collected 14 hits in the game. Hostkoetter and Madison Rohls each collected three hits for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. Thackery collected two hits for North Decatur Varsity Chargers in three at bats. Rohls stole two bases. North Decatur Varsity Chargers ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game. North Decatur Varsity Chargers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Crawford made the most plays with eight.”

Meanwhile, the following details the loss to Knightstown:

“A single by Dylann Fausnaugh put Knightstown on the board in the top of the first. An error extended the Knightstown lead to 3-0 in the top of the second inning. A dropped third strike extended the Knightstown lead to 4-0 in the top of the third inning.

“Mae Hersberger earned the win for Knightstown. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Elizabeth Meister took the loss for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. The hurler went four innings, surrendering six runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out two and walking two.

“Madison Rohls, Ally Whitaker, and Carmen Thackery each collected one hit for North Decatur Varsity Chargers. Kendall Hostkoetter and Thackery were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for North Decatur Varsity Chargers.

“Knightstown accumulated 12 hits in the game. Hersberger and Jaycie Cole each collected three hits for Knightstown. Hersberger, Savanna Tumilty, and Fausnaugh each drove in two runs for Knightstown. Lanee Swindell collected two hits for Knightstown in three at bats. Hersberger and Cole each stole multiple bases for Knightstown. Knightstown ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game. Knightstown were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Swindell made the most plays with 10.
