Clay Muncy has been named boys’ varsity soccer coach at East Central High School. Muncy takes over for BJ Black, who stepped down last month after guiding the Trojans for 22 seasons. Black compiled a career record of 446 wins, 84 losses and 28 ties; one state runner-up during the 2004 season when the tournament was single class; seven regional championships, and 18 sectional titles. Muncy is one of Black’s former players and spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach. 

The Cleveland Guardians blanked the Reds 3-0 in Cactus League baseball heard last night on 103.9 FM. Cincinnati hosts the Los Angeles Angels this afternoon in Goodyear. First pitch at 4:05.

The Pacers outlasted the Minnesota Timberwolves 132-130 in overtime last night. Obi Toppin’s three-pointer with 3.5 seconds remaining in the extra period lifted Indiana to the win. Toppin finished with a season-high 34 points. He also pulled down 10 rebounds. With the win, the Pacers go to 38-29 on the year and are one game behind Milwaukee for fourth place in the East. They return home tomorrow night against Dallas.

The 68-team NCAA men’s basketball tournament tips off tonight with the First Four in Dayton, Ohio. Alabama State and St. Francis meet in the opener, followed by San Diego State and North Carolina in the nightcap.

Duke remains atop the AP Top 25 college basketball poll heading into the NCAA Tournament. Houston is second, followed by Florida and tourney overall top seed Auburn fourth, and St. John’s cracks the top five, moving up one space. The Purdue Boilermakers fall two spots to #22.
