(Batesville, IN) – The City of Batesville, in collaboration with the Batesville Area Arts Council, Kids Discovery Factory, Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Batesville Main Street, Batesville Kiwanis & Kiwanis Student Leadership Academy, Batesville Beautification League, Cindy Weisenbach along with Batesville Intermediate School students, Batesville Historical Center, Mayor’s Youth Council, Ripley County Tourism, Genesis: Pathways to Success, and the Batesville Memorial Public Library will present exciting and engaging experiences from now to the Eclipse date of Monday, April 8.

Don’t miss the Batesville Blackout Bash on Sunday, April 7 at the Bill Gillespie Soccer Complex, 922 Delaware Road in Batesville from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. This free event is open to the public and will feature local live entertainment, artisan vendors, food trucks, Batesville Soccer Club concessions, and a Kids Space Place.
Event attendees are encouraged to use alternative methods of transportation to reduce road traffic congestion. Please note Pohlman Street, from Delaware Road to Coonhunters Road, will be closed to thru traffic. Both parking lots located on that road will be open.
Are you ready for totality? On Monday, April 8, the total solar eclipse will take place at 3:07 p.m, lasting approximately four minutes. The Bill Gillespie Soccer Complex has been identified as a designated viewing area.
The area will be open to the public at 8 a.m. Bring your own picnic or purchase at the Knights of Columbus, Soccer Club Concessions or one of the many food trucks.
Portable restroom facilities will be onsite.
Free parking will be available at all locations surrounding the complex, including the Knights of Columbus. Please be courteous by disposing of your trash. No camping, staking tents, or mobile RV, charter bus parking is permitted.
“We’re excited to welcome Eclipse watchers to our area! This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime event by making a weekend of it and spend time getting to know Batesville and the great place we call home,” said Mayor John Irrgang.
Batesville Fire/EMS and Police personnel will be fully staffed the weekend of April 6-8, working with state and local partners to ensure the safety and wellbeing of citizens.
