(Greensburg, IN) – Main Street Greensburg Executive Director Rose Cronley provided Greensburg City Council with the annual update this week (pictured), which included a look back at last year and some of this year’s early highlights.

“We’ve welcomed new staff, board members, and countless volunteers. We also grew our events, programs, and technical assistance offerings,” Cronley said. “Our team has been very busy working to increase communication and our advocacy.”

Cronley will mark her first anniversary with the organization next month, while Administrative Coordinator Allison Beck is also closing in on one year with Main Street Greensburg.

In her report to council, Cronley said over 15,000 people visited the downtown business district in 2022.

Cronley adds nine businesses opened downtown last year; there were eight façade improvements; five businesses closed, and one business expanded.

In addition, 85% of commercial sites are occupied, and there are a total of 101 businesses up and running in the downtown district.

“The tremendous growth that Main Street Greensburg has seen is a direct result of the dedication of our team and the incredible support of our community,” Cronley said. “With its support, we’ve been able to hold some of the largest events to date for our organization, expand our work in historic preservation, and continue supporting Greensburg’s prospering downtown economy.”

She also touted 2023 successes.

“This year to date, we’ve been awarded five grants for the Farmers Market, Holiday Walk, and our new community calendar Yodel,” Cronley said. “We’ve hosted the (Friends of Fred) Food Truck Festival, half the Farmers Market season, our first Fourth Friday event which also included a cruise-in.

“We also awarded two facade grants to help to restore two exteriors, and create three new housing units in our district,” she added.

Main Street Greensburg, a public-private entity, was founded in 2005 and is an accredited Indiana Main Street organization and a member of Main Street America.
